Looking for attorney for contractor dispute

A contractor was recommended to us. We thought we'd give him a try. Bottom line, we had to bring on a different contractor because this one never finished the rehab.

As it turned out, there are several other investors dealing with this same issue with this contractor. Apparently he has not been paying his sub-contractors, who are now putting liens against the homes.

We also believe that this contractor has been using the rehab money, to buy, fix and flip houses for himself. Looks like he has two houses on the market right now.

I was wondering if there is any good attorney in the DFW area someone can recommend. We might have a group case here, as there are at least 5 investors affected by it, maybe more.

Also, any recommendations as to how I should document the fact that this contractor never finished the job and we had to bring someone else in? Anything formal I need to do (I was only able to communicate via text message with this contractor, because he wouldn't pick up the phone)?

    Thanks for any help.

Try Gene DuBose - he is an attorney and an investor.  I have seen him at both REI and business networking meetings and he seems to be well regarded. I have never used him but he is delightful to speak with and get to know.  Very approachable and he advertises that he is affordable.

Folks, I understand that many of us have had negative/costly/painful experiences with certain contractors.  Believe me when I tell you that I feel your pain, but please refrain from naming specific 3rd parties and describing them negatively on this forum.  Let's stick to helping each other with nameless lessons learned.  If you feel compelled to share specific names, please do so offline.

    Thanks,

    Robin

i would like the names of poor contractors if you would send the name via email to rjsu.properties@gmail.com. this is Robin's forum so respect his wishes but disagree that we dont share here. this system does not make it easy to contact each other privately.
