I think that Robin and I have different perspectives on some of this…
We do agree on several things which include the following:
- 1.
At a minimum, take advantage of the free
coaching session Matthew offered.
- 2.
$8670 is something that one could make off of
one or two deals, no question about it.
- 3.
Coaching and/or learning/exercising due
diligence is vital to success…
The things that I
balk at are as follows:
- 1.
$289/mo for 30 months is paid whether you’re
successful or not... If real estate is not a good fit for you, you still have
to pay up.
- 2.
Real Estate is simply not for everyone… I won’t
post the statistics of how many people who try real estate investing fail but
MANY people fail. It is my belief that
there are some people who are just not cut out for real estate investing (like
there are people who are not cut out to be a doctor, a lawyer, a police
officer, a teacher, etc… I personally couldn’t be successful at any of the aforementioned
occupations) but they don't find out that they are not cut out for real estate until they have lost time, money, or both.
- 3.
I’m under
the school of thought that gurus should teach and charge a percentage per deal…
For example, the guru will charge 40% of your first 10 deals… That would mean
that the guru would potentially make a huge pay day vs $8k but he/she doesn’t
get paid unless you’re successful which ensures that you’re likely to be
successful.
The above said, DFW REI Club has been a wonderful resource
and there are some very bright and talented people on this forum… Also, Robin
has either personally helped, or directed many people to become successful in real
estate investing. Also, 21x net worth is staggering number….
Robin paid gurus to help him and it has paid off. I did my
own research and have not paid anyone and I’m pretty content with where I am,
but am nowhere near the level of Robin... I’ll give you the advice that I give
most people. Do your due diligence and do what you feel is right for you…. Keep
us in the loop on what you decide to do if you would, and good luck! There are
great people on this site to help!
